Statement of Beliefs

As part of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ),

the following are among our core beliefs.

The Bible, and the New Testament in particular,  is a written witness to the life and ministry of Jesus,

and is our primary resource for Christian thought and action.

Jesus Christ is the Son of God and the Savior of humanity.

The Church is the universal body of believers in Jesus Christ.

The local congregation is self-governing, calls its own clergy, and appoints its own leaders.

The church is called to engage in many areas of global and community outreach and evangelism, and actively

works toward world peace, justice, and human rights, as well as matters relevant to global ecology.

All Christians are part of God’s priesthood and may enter into many areas of service and ministry.

Males and females have equal opportunity to serve God in all positions of ministry and leadership, based on personal

talent, knowledge, and skills.

Communion is observed every Sunday as a central element of the church’s life, and is open to all.

Members of the clergy are expected to maintain the appropriate standards of education, spiritual devotion,

and personal conduct.

Disciples of Christ in general are recognized for their devotion to unity despite diversity, and church membership does not

require confession to any rigid creed or doctrine.
